Our client, a leading energy consultancy, is looking for a Business Development Manager to lead new client acquisition and contribute to sustainable growth across the UK. As the Business Development Manager, you will take full responsibility for the end-to-end sales process - from identifying and engaging potential clients to closing high-value deals. You’ll deliver bespoke energy consultancy solutions aligned with each client’s specific need which include energy procurement, bill validation, carbon compliance, and efficiency solutions. Key responsibilities of the Business Development Manager:

  • Identify and generate new business opportunities via outbound calls, networking, and referrals
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline aligned with growth targets
  • Develop relationships with senior decision-makers and key stakeholders
  • Deliver tailored proposals and presentations to address client needs
  • Negotiate and close deals that deliver value for both client and company
  • Partner with marketing on lead generation and sales alignment
  • Maintain accurate CRM records for pipeline and activity tracking
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and client feedback to inform strategy
  • Represent the business at events to build brand visibility
  • Work with internal teams to ensure smooth client onboarding and service delivery

Skills and Experience required of the Business Development Manager:

  • 3+ years’ experience in B2B sales or business development (full sales cycle)
  • Background in the energy sector, ideally with a consultancy or brokerage
  • Proven experience selling energy services (procurement, validation, compliance, efficiency)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working independently
  • Strong proposal writing and strategic sales planning abilities
  • Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office
  • Organised, commercially aware, and solution-focused
  • Full UK driving licence required
