Key responsibilities of the Business Development Manager:
- Identify and generate new business opportunities via outbound calls, networking, and referrals
- Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline aligned with growth targets
- Develop relationships with senior decision-makers and key stakeholders
- Deliver tailored proposals and presentations to address client needs
- Negotiate and close deals that deliver value for both client and company
- Partner with marketing on lead generation and sales alignment
- Maintain accurate CRM records for pipeline and activity tracking
- Stay up to date on industry trends and client feedback to inform strategy
- Represent the business at events to build brand visibility
- Work with internal teams to ensure smooth client onboarding and service delivery
Skills and Experience required of the Business Development Manager:
- 3+ years’ experience in B2B sales or business development (full sales cycle)
- Background in the energy sector, ideally with a consultancy or brokerage
- Proven experience selling energy services (procurement, validation, compliance, efficiency)
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working independently
- Strong proposal writing and strategic sales planning abilities
- Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office
- Organised, commercially aware, and solution-focused
- Full UK driving licence required
