A new opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join a leading energy solutions company. The Design Engineer position is characterised by the ownership of projects to develop district networks. The projects include multi-disciplinary design coordination with both internal and external stakeholders. - Design heat exchanger assemblies & buried piping for district network consumer connections.
- Design energy centres - boilers, CHP units, thermal stores, pumps, chillers, auxiliary systems.
- Producing tender scopes, specifications, bills of materials and engineering calculations.
- Attendance at project sites for surveys, reviews, key delivery milestones and commissioning.
- The design of pre-insulated buried network piping systems.
- Creating engineering schematic and layout drawings using 2D and 3D CAD packages
- Producing survey scopes, specifications, bills of materials and installation contractor scopes.
- Technical support and design coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
 Skills and experience required:Â
- BEng / BSc Mechanical Engineering Degree (or similar, minimum of a 2:1 standard).
- An ability to size and specify valves, instruments and piping components.
- Creating bills of material for plant equipment, valves and instrumentation.
- Producing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams and engineering schematics in 2D AutoCAD.
- Writing sub-contractor scopes of supply, specifications & major plant tender documentation.
- Experience in designing buried pre-insulated BS EN 253 piping systems to BS EN 13941.
- Managing work and coordinating to grid reference systems
- Creating bills of material for buried network piping systems, chambers and valves.
- Knowledge of piping systems, buried piping system components, fabrication methods.
- Site visits and surveys to collect data for creating designs and for supporting installation.
- Experience liaising with both internal and external clients, contractors and suppliers.
- Writing sub-contractor scopes of supply, specifications, installation tender documentation.
- Experiencing of producing as-built record drawings and supporting the compilation of Operation & Maintenance manual content for delivered designs.
