Our client, a leading UK energy supplier, is looking for an Energy Trader to join their growing trading division. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Trading to bring structure, expertise, and a professional edge to the team. You’ll play a pivotal role in optimising trading operations, delivering valuable market insights, and supporting the company’s growth. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to lead and develop the team, helping shift from a reactive to a more strategic trading approach. The ideal candidate will be proactive, have previous experience in energy trading and market analysis and adept at navigating market dynamics.   • Execute trades across energy markets (electricity, gas, oil, and renewables) to optimise profits and manage risk
  • Develop and implement trading strategies aligned with market conditions, regulations, and business goals
  • Monitor real-time market dynamics to seize opportunities and guide trading decisions
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, sharing insights across the business
  • Analyse supply-demand dynamics, pricing trends, and economic factors impacting energy markets
  • Maintain risk management models to mitigate exposure and ensure compliance
  • Lead and develop a high-performing, collaborative trading team to meet business growth needs
  • Drive process improvements to enhance trading efficiency and operations
Skills and experience required:
  • 3–5 years' experience in energy trading, market analysis or a related field
  • Skilled in developing and executing trading strategies to optimise profits and manage risk
  • Proven ability to identify, manage, and mitigate risks from price volatility and regulatory changes
  • Strong knowledge of P&L management, financial forecasting, and pricing analysis
  • Proficient in trading platforms, including ETRM systems, Bloomberg and ICE
  • Skilled in data analytics tools such as Python, R and Tableau
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline
