As the Sales Manager, you will be the driving force behind their expanding commercial sales team - hands-on, strategic and central to the next phase of their growth. This is a player-coach role where you’ll lead by example, get involved in B2B sales, support live deals, and take full ownership of building a high-performing team. Key responsibilities of the Sales Manager:
- Lead and scale the commercial team, beginning with 2+ hires per month across Sales & Marketing
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor new Business Development Executives and Account Managers
- Develop and implement sales processes, including pipeline, activity KPIs, CRM usage & reporting
- Own and lead weekly and monthly sales performance reviews
- Drive deal progression by managing the pipeline, and engaging in strategic opportunities
- Work closely with Marketing to turn inbound activity into revenue
- Partner with the MD and Product/Operations teams on go-to-market plans and client targeting
- Monitor team performance & foster accountability, high performance & continuous development
- Leverage AI and automation tools to optimise workflows, increase visibility, and scale efficiently
Skills and experience required of the Sales Manager:
- Proven experience in leading sales teams of 3–8 members within a fast-moving, B2B environment
- Experience in energy, sustainability, SaaS, or consultative B2B sales
- Proactive and commercially savvy leader who sets the pace and drives deal closures
- Strong proficiency with CRM systems (preferably HubSpot) and contemporary sales technologies
- Experienced in recruiting and mentoring junior sales roles such as graduates and BDEs
- Effective and confident communicator capable of providing constructive challenges and enforcing accountability
- Strategic, process-focused thinker who creates efficient frameworks without sacrificing agility
- Skilled in leveraging AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Notion AI) to enhance team productivity
