Executive Search with Heart and Precision at Utility People

Meet Dani Miller Executive Search Consultant, a key member of our team at Utility People. Dani brings precision, passion and a refreshingly human approach to Executive Search. Whether she’s sourcing top talent or supporting strategic recruitment projects, Dani applies her exceptional organisational skills and warmth to everything she does—all while balancing her career with busy family life.

About You

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’d describe myself as friendly, confident and proactive. I’m extremely organised, hard-working, and (as a busy mum) well-versed in the art of multitasking! I’m always on the go—I love keeping busy, spending time with the children and catching up with friends.

How long have you been with Utility People?
I’ve been part of Utility People since October 2024, supporting our Executive Search & Selection division. I use a consultative approach, combined with strong relationship-building skills, to provide tailored, strategic recruitment solutions that support the long-term goals of both clients and candidates.

Before joining UP, I spent several years as a stay-at-home mum until my youngest started school. Coming back into the workplace felt daunting, but I’ve been genuinely grateful to land in such a kind, talented, funny and supportive team. I’ve found a brilliant work-life balance here—and I couldn’t ask for more.

What do you love most about your job?
The flexibility is what I value most. I can be fully present as a mum, without guilt and still have time to be “just Dani” for 15 hours a week—contributing to the household and doing something I enjoy. Working from home around the school run and having reduced hours during term time is ideal. I love taking on different tasks and throwing myself into every little project, whether that’s candidate sourcing or admin support. I take real pride in my attention to detail—and I’ll happily throw anything and everything into a spreadsheet!

Your Career & Experience

How long have you worked in the industry, and what’s your journey been like?
Utility People is my first experience working in the energy industry, and I’ve found it fascinating and complex—definitely something I’m proud to be a part of.

I have a degree in Italian and International Business and a background in director support, high-level administration, recruitment and sales support. After graduating, I began my career in recruitment, starting as an administrator and resourcer before becoming a consultant. I then took on PA and sales admin roles, supporting directors at companies that built and maintained server rooms and data centres across the UK. Later, I became a senior administrator and PA at a financial modelling firm.

After taking a career break to raise my children, I briefly worked at my daughter’s nursery, and then found Utility People—a role that fits my strengths and supports my family life.

What does a typical day look like for you?
When working from home, I usually start by checking my emails and catching up on LinkedIn news. Then I dive into whatever project I’m working on—whether it’s assisting Lisa with executive search, doing market research, posting jobs or registering candidates.

Have you had any particularly memorable or impactful experiences in your role?
Every time I successfully support the team or help a candidate along their journey, it feels impactful. It’s the small wins that make this role feel meaningful.

Life Outside of Work

Tell us a bit about your life outside the office.
I’ve been married for nearly 10 years and we have two beautiful children. Life outside of work is busy, fun and family-focused!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love getting involved with the school PTA and helping raise money for my children’s school. I also really enjoy going to the gym, especially weight training—it’s my go-to stress reliever. And I absolutely love food! I enjoy cooking and creating healthy recipes, especially my current obsession: chocolate baked oats, which I eat for breakfast every day.

Do you have any favourite hobbies or pastimes that keep you busy?
We’re always out and about—whether it’s playdates in the park, visiting our local farm (we have a membership!), or heading off on a weekend camping trip. My son has hearing loss in both ears and wears hearing aids, which inspired me to start learning British Sign Language. I’ve been teaching myself for the past 18 months and have started teaching my children too. I’m planning to enrol in BSL Level One in September 2025.

My husband drag races at Santa Pod Raceway six times a year, and we all go along as a family to support him. We recently bought a second-hand caravan so we can make the most of those weekends—and we’ll be taking it on a 13-hour drive to France this summer!

Final Thoughts

How do you balance work and personal life?
It’s all about flexibility and support. Utility People have given me the space to structure my work in a way that fits around family life, which makes all the difference. I feel present both at home and in my job.

What motivates you, professionally and personally?
Professionally, I’m motivated by doing a great job and supporting my team. Personally, everything I do is driven by love for my family.

One piece of advice for someone new to recruitment?
Be patient and kind to yourself. Keep trying your best, and trust that you’ll get there.

From multitasking mum to meticulous administrator, Dani embodies what it means to show up fully—at work and at home. If you’re looking for someone who truly understands the value of relationships and detail, Dani is an integral part of what makes our team so special.—get in touch today!
